Savannah (@missangelafong1) comments on release
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

Former WWE Diva Savannah aka Angela Fong has taken to Twitter to comment on her release. The ECW and NXT ring announcer has keep quiet since the surprising news that she was being wished well on her future endeavors, but through her account @missangelafong1 she posted this message:

"It's been a wk since my release and has felt like the longest wk of my life! It was so unexpected and I didn't see it coming. But, I have to accept and I'm moving onwards and upwards. 3 yrs w/WWE.. it was an incredible time. I learned so much..not just how to wrestle. @ FCW,I was passionate 2 learn as much as I could, and I felt that I did. What hurts, is that I never wrestled on TV, something I really wanted. Perhaps 1 day! Thank u 2 all my FANS..hope u continue to support me. Thnk u to @WWE for everything. I will miss it! Journey has just begun 4 me! See u all soon!! :) love u!"

Short, sweet, and classy from Fong, who clearly wanted to be more than just a ring announcer. In the WWE's developmental territory FCW she became the FCW Queen of the Ring, and had plenty of wrestling skills that weren't showcased as she was made to just announce matches. From the sounds of it, she might not be done with wrestling just yet. Rumors circulating online claim that Fong was fired because of "messing up" her lines during an interview with Wade Barret on Raw, a pretty fickle reason considering how often the likes of Striker and Cole make mistakes weekly on Raw.

Hilarious glimpse at the SHIMMER Wrestling Academy
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS
Today we bring you a Hilarious video courtesy of Barely Political staring TV Host/Producer Andrea Feczko. As part of a "Samsung’s Follow Me" challenge she went to the Ring Of Honor/SHIMMER Wrestling Academy to literally learn the ropes and get a little training with head trainers Delirious and SHIMMER cornerstone Daizee Haze.

Along with the hilarity of Delirious' inchoerent rambling, and the looks of fear (particularly at the mention of an "overhead throw") and attempts at selling by Feczko, it gives us a light-hearted look at what goes on at the training academy with emphasis on safety and taking bumps the right way. Even if some of Delirious' advice and methods does seem scary! It's also notable that in the background of some shots we catch glimpses of then in-training wrestlers "Bonesaw" Jessie Brook and "Jumping" Jamilia Craft, sans mask, who are now both active wrestlers with bright futures ahead of them..

It's a fun video that makes everyone involved look great, especially Haze who looks downright adorable at parts. For more on Feczko or Barely Political, check out andreafeczko.com and barelypolitical.com

Daizee Haze to Puerto Rico
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

Star of SHIMMER, ROH, CHIKARA and Wrestlicious as Marley, Daizee Haze will be traveling across to Puerto Rico to compete for the WWC as part of their Aniversario 2010 Weekend. The three-day event, which has gathered wide interest for the return to the ring of former Diva Mickie James as she takes on former TNA Knockouts Champion O.D.B.

Friday, July 9 will see Haze team with Chicky Starr to take on Jose Chaparro & O. D. B. while on the Saturday it's a singles match as Haze takes on O.D.B. The Sunday of course sees the huge O.D.B. Vs James match, but sadly no sign of Haze on its card. Personally we'd love to see a Haze Vs James match, but there's no denying that all the matches involving these ladies over the Aniversario event will be great ones.

ACW Queen of Queens Tournament Results - 3 title changes!
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

Texas-based indy promotion ACW held the second ever "American Joshi Queen of Queens Tournament" and despite being a mouthful of a tournament to say, it was filled with indy stars from ROH, SHIMMER, and Wrestlicious. Thanks to Diva-Dirt and John Hyperion for these results.

1. First Round Tournament Match: MsChif (Current NWA World Womens Champion and former SHIMMER Champ) defeated Athena via pinfall with the Desecrator to advance.

2. First Round Tournament Match: Portia Perez (Naughty Girl Faith in Wrestlicious, one half of the current SHIMMER Tag Team Champions) defeated Daizee Haze (SHIMMER star, Marley in Wrestlicious) via Referee Stoppage with a Side Choke to advance. Some might call this an upset, and it certainly prevented Haze from winning two straight tournaments (she won the first ever Queen of Queens tourny last year).

3. First Round Tournament Match: Jessica James defeated Sara Del Rey (ROH & SHIMMER star) by submission with a Rear Naked Choke to advance. Huge win for James over the established star, who was a late entry into the tournament after Nicole Matthews was unable to make it due to travel issues.

4. First Round Tournament Match: Daffney (current TNA Knockout) defeated Rachel Summerlyn (c) (SHIMMER star) via pinfall after the Daffknees to advance AND win the ACW American Joshi Title (ACW's women's championship). This match lived up to my expectations from these two long time rivals. Daffney seemed legit emotional upon being awarded the belt. As is common in indy tournaments, champions defend their title in every match they have, this case being Summerlyn.

5. Non-tournament mens match/ACW U-30 Championship match: Robert Evans (w/ Super Electro) (c) defeated Matt Fitchett via submission with the Arm Sharpshooter to retain. Match was originally scheduled to be Evans Vs Jessica James but she was moved into the tournament because of the already mentioned travel issues.

6. Semi-Final Tournament Match: Portia Perez defeated MsChif via Submission by Side Choke to advance. Before the match Perez taunted her opponent with her SHIMMER Tag Team Title and saying, “I still have MY belt.” MsChif of course lost the SHIMMER Championship at the last tapings.

7. Semi-Final Tournament Match: Jessica James defeated Daffney (c) via pinfall during a rolling cradle pin exchange to advance AND win the American Joshi title. Before the match Portia Perez came back to attack James pre-match which put her at a huge disadvantage early on. Jessica did manage to pull off another upset, but for some reason she was completely unemotional after the big win despite winning the title and beating a current Knockout. Perez then again came out and attacked her with the help of Robert Evans and Super Electro.

8. Non-tournament mens match: “Showtime” Scott Summers and JT Lamotta went to a Time-Limit Draw

9. Non-tournament mens 10-man tag-team match: Childs, Dell, Spiro, Electro and Khris Wolfe defeated “Leonardo” Vexx, “Michaelangelo” ACH, “Raphael” Pliskin, “Donatello” Palmer and Masters “Splinter”. All the faces came out wearing turtles T-Shirts and bandannas. The crowd even held a sing-a-long to the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles theme.

10. Tournament finals match: Portia Perez (w/ Robert Evans and Super Electro) defeated Lady Poison (c) via pinfall with a Superkick to win the ACW American Joshi Title and the 2010 American Joshi Queen of Queens Tournament. It looked like Perez would win by forfeit but Lady Poison, Jessica James’ venomous alter ego, came out for the final surprise and final match of the night. Portia finally resorted to outside distractions and shenanigans to capture all the gold and the tournament trophy.

Major win for Perez, going over two major stars and finally a ACW rival to win the tournament and title, making her the ACW American Joshi Champion as well as one half of the SHIMMER Tag Team Champions. Jessica James also looked strong with big wins, and no doubt will be hungry for revenge and her title. Likewise Daffney, who like James had a short time as the champion during the night, will surely want another chance at the gold.

Del Rey/Haze vs. Awesome Kong/Saeed set for CHIKARA
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS
When a company announces an event entitled "King of Show" it should be expected that big matches are coming. Perhaps none bigger in women's wrestling then two former top TNA Knockouts taking on SHIMMER stars in a blockbuster tag team match.

That's what's going to be seen upcoming on July 25th at CHIKARA's "Chikarasaurus Rex: King of Show" event. Here the team of Daizee Haze and Sara Del Rey, part of the BDK stable in CHIKARA and well known across the indy scene for their work in SHIMMER and Ring of Honor, will face off against former TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong and fellow former Knockout Raisha Saeed (aka Alissa Flash, and Cheerleader Melissa in SHIMMER).

A huge match for any all-women's company, but the fact that this is getting major billing in a predominately male promotion, and on a card headlined stars of the Dragon Date promotion and Tommy Dreamer's return to the ECW Arena shows how seriously CHIKARA takes female wrestlers.

Check out the hype video for the match below, and visit chikarapro.com for more information.

WSU Results - Uncensored Rumble with Haze, Jazz, Kong, more
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

WSU recently held it's third annual "Uncensored Rumble" event on 6/26 with a loaded card featuring former and current SHIMMER stars, stars of Wrestlicious, and former TNA Knockouts and WWE Divas. The event was highlighted by the "Icon Vs Icon" World title match, and the namesake of the event - the 23-woman (well, 22 and 1 man) Rumble-style battle royal for a title match.

1. In a match of debuting stars, SHIMMER cornerstone Daizee Haze (also known as Marley from Wrestlicious) defeated Cherry Bomb (recently seen as the unlucky blind date to Goldust on Raw) with a Tiger Suplex

2. The WSU Tag Team Champions of The Cosmo Club (former SHIMMER star Cindy Rogers & Jana) w/h Brittney Savage & Rick Cataldo successfully defended the gold against the debuting team of The Fly Girls (Divina Fly & Niya). The Fly Girls brought high-flying offense, but were grounded when Jana forced Niya to tap to the Jana-Vice finisher.

Post match - Rain's Army (Rain, Nikki Roxx, Lacey, Jessicka Havok & Amber O'Neal) came out and had a face off with The Cosmo Club, before going to the ring and beating down The Fly Girls. Rain (Felony in Wrestlicious and formily Payton Banks in TNA) promised victory and a clean sweep of wins for her army.

3. Uncensored Rumble Qualifying Match - 8 Person Elimination Tag Team Match
Jessicka Havok/Amber/Lexus/Rick Cataldo defeated Sassy Stephanie/Tina San Antonio/Marti Belle/Latasha when Havok lastly eliminated Stephanie to become the sole survivor.

The stipulations for this match were that the first person eliminated in the match would have to enter the Rumble match in position number one, and that "honor" fell to the only man in the match, Rick Cataldo. The match eventually came down to Havok against all four of the other team and here Havok destroyed her opponents with power moves, eventually using a "must-be-seen-to-be -believed sitout powerbomb" on Sassy Stephanie (SHIMMER star, also seen on the ROH on HDNet show) to get the win.

Post match: Rain came out with an envelope, and revealed she was paying off Havok to take the last spot in the Rumble for herself.

4. Amy Lee defeated Mickie Knuckles (once known as Moose in TNA) in what quickly became an "anything goes" match with plenty of brawling an weapons used. Eventually Lee used a bulldog onto a steel chair to get the win.

5. In a heated match for the WSU Spirit Championship, Brittney Savage retained the gold over Becky Bayless (known as Brooke Lynn in Wrestlicious, and a former interviewer in ROH and SHIMMER).

This match had become personal when, as reported on this site, Savage used Bayless' real life DWI arrest to mock her. Eventually Savage distracted the referee by looking like she would use the title belt as a weapon, but while he put the belt away she spit alcohol into Bayless' eyes to blind her and take advantage of that to get the win.

6. In tag team action, Rain's Army - represented by Nikki Roxx (SHIMMER star and former TNA Knockout as Roxxi) & Amber O'Neal (Southern Belle Charlotte in Wrestlicious and a former SHIMMER star) defeated Jazz (former WWE Women's Champion and original ECW star) & Angel Orsini in a tag team grudge match.

The match ended when behind the referee's back Roxx hit the Barbie Crusher (Voodoo Drop) on Jazz to allow O'Neal to get the pin.

Post match: Orsini cut a promo about the stipulation that said she could never get another title shot as long as Martinez is champion, but said that would be overturned if she won the Rumble match tonight. She then made it clear to her friend Jazz that if it meant eliminating her from the match, then she'd do it and the two had a stare down.

7. Former TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong defeated Rain w/Lacey with a huge Implant Buster. Despite promising a clean sweep, the leader of Rain's Army was the one who lost as Kong won in dominate style.

8. Jazz was victorious in the 23-Person Uncensored Rumble, lastly eliminating Angel Orsini when Jazz tricked her friend by faking a knee injury, catching Orsini by surprise and dumping her out of the ring. Jazz earns a future WSU World Title match in the future. The match saw the likes of Awesome Kong, Nikki Roxx, Daizee Haze, and Rain involved.

9. In the main event, the WSU World Championship was defended in an "WSU Icon Vs WSU Icon" match. Mercedes Martinez retained her title against Alicia after 3 back-to-back Fisherman Busters.

Post match: Jazz stormed the ring and attacked Martinez. Angel Orsini then came out and Jazz bailed, however instead of helping Orsini attacked Alicia, claiming that she should have been the won to win the "J-Cup" tournament that Alicia won. Orsini then gave Jazz the WSU title, stating that when Jazz wins she wants the first shot at her, and Jazz agreed before she nailed Martinez with the belt.

A huge show with big matches from one of the biggest all-female promotions around today. With the recent announcement of Martinez defending the WSU title against former WWE Diva Mickie James, things are going onwards and upwards for WSU. Mickie James Vs Mercedes Martinez in Dream Match
Posted by: Adam Milne 06/30/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

We might never get Beth Phoenix Vs Trish Stratus, but thanks to indy companies WSU and ICW we are going to see a dream match coming true when Mickie James battles Mercedes Martinez one on one not only for a World title, but in a match where it's claimed there must be a winner!

Womens Superstars Uncensored has announced through a press release, which takes more than its fair share of shots at "Divas" wrestling, that it's current WSU World Champion Martinez, who has held the title for over a year now, will defend against the former WWE Womens and Divas Champion James at an ICW in Queens, NY on 8/7. It's certainly a huge coup for the indy scene, especially Martinez, a star of the SHIMMER promotion and many other indy companies, who will face one of the most high profile opponents in her career in this dream match.

The match will be held under "Uncensored" rules, meaning no disqualification and no count outs so there "must" be a winner. Considering that this is Mickie James who seems unlikely to lose one of her first matches since being released, and the fact that the WSU title is being defending in another promotion, it seems more plausible that the match will end in shenanigans that sees the match thrown out so no one loses. That being said, it should make for a great match and make for a must purchase DVD.

Set your calenders for August 7th, and visit ICWZone.com for more information on the event.

Former Knockout set to return to TNA?
Posted by: Andrew Bedsole 06/29/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Lisa Marie Varon aka Tara is expected to make a return to TNA Wrestling. At the time of her departure she was legitimately planning on leaving the company due to her contract expiring but, according to reports just before her “retirement match” with Madison Rayne she either cut a new deal or was close to one, but since the retirement angle was already in place she left on schedule. The creative department is working on a return angle for her at the moment.

I don’t know how accurate the reports are that Lisa Marie was close to or already singed a new deal, but I do think TNA is probably the best place for her. She has a lot of outside interest such as her custom cars business and possible MMA career that TNA will let her explore, plus as she showed during her last run with the company she still has a lot to give back to the industry, and there would be no guarantee she would get to show that with the WWE, while if she signed with TNA she would almost certainly be given a premier spot on the Knockouts roster.

RAW Recap: So many possiblities and so many attitudes
Posted by: Bryan 06/29/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

On a segment heavy Monday Night Raw, the Divas brought attitude. Each diva segment has so many possibilities. Equipped with hard-hitting spots and a new Divas Champion, they made sure that they made an impression. Was it a good impression or a bad one?

Usos and Tamina vs. The Hart Dynasty

Earlier in the show viewers at home became anxious to see the Fatal Four Way rematch but the Usos were just anxious to get their hands on the Hart Dynasty. During the Harts' entrance, the trio ran down to the ring and brutally attacked the Unified Tag Team Champions. The twins threw their male rivals into the steel steps and onto the barricade, while Tamina punished her Diva with a body slam. As the team walked to the back, Tamina felt like she could have done more. Snuka's daughter ran down to the ring and punished Natalya with a splash.

To be honest, I feel like I have seen this segment before. The only thing that is keeping this feud interesting is Natalya and Tamina. Each time they come head to head, they bring more attitude and intensity. I like that the focus is on the divas because it adds more possibilities but to turn up the feud things need to get personal. No one wants to see a man put his hands on a woman, especially if she is a Hart. By the Usos attacking Natalya it would establish heel presence and their characters. You have your ring leader in Tamina and her muscle in the Usos.

Divas Champion Alicia Fox and Maryse vs. Eve Torres and Gail Kim

Before the main event, the divas were given a tag team match. At this point the audience and the viewers at home were tuning out. To start off the match the former and current Divas champion met face to face. Or should I say foot to gut. The fans in the arena were chanting for Maryse and Daniel Bryan, as Alicia dominated Eve. Alicia was not having this as she shut the fans up with a knee strike to Eve's temple. OUCH! Maryse tags in to the fans delight does some damage and them she tags Alicia in. After a missed knee strike, Eve makes the hot tag to Gail Kim. The former Women's Champion was on fire! Her moves were crisp and clean. From the rana to her lateral press reversal to her dropkick, she made sure the fans got into the match. Fox could not handle Gail's moves and action spilled onto the outside when Eve sloppily tried to attack Alicia but the Fox reversed it and slammed Eve's body into the ring. Gail Kim grabbed Alicia's hair to pull her back into the ring but Maryse interrupted and tried to stop Gail. The veteran nailed Maryse with her elbow and the opportunistic Champion nailed Kim with the axe kick for the win. Alicia yelled for her title, while Maryse stared Alicia down with attitude. It seems that Maryse is still gunning for the Divas Championship.

Gail Kim saved this match, point blank. Eve is starting to disappoint me because I feel like she doesn't understand how to WRESTLE. She knows moves but doesn't know how to tell the story. Tonight she played the rag-doll babyface and she seemed so hesitant. She needs to step back feud with Jillian in order for her to learn how to tell a story. On the heel side, Alicia Fox is starting to get into her character. Her mannerisms and attitude flows with her in-ring work, but she just needs a proper feud to put her over. Alicia versus Maryse could be good but fans would enjoy a full-on Alicia versus Gail rivalry more.

PROs
- Hard-hitting spots
- Gail's moves
- Alicia/Maryse??
- Everyone wants a shot at the title
- Natalya and Tamina focus

CONs
- More storyline progression

This episode of Raw was not a bad episode, but it could have been better. I appreciate the effort the divas made tonight. The girls worked hard and tried to make things as interesting as possible. With all of the action tonight, I felt that it I've seen it all before. We have seen the Usos sneak attack the Harts before. I have seen Alicia and Maryse’s egos go head to head. But will it go anywhere? Will we see a new formula for these feuds? Will Maryse prove that she is the dominate heel? Will the tag team rival get personal? Tune in next week to find out.

Update On Sarita and Taylor Wilde's TNA Storyline
Posted by: Daniel 06/28/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

Rajah.com reports... On this week's episode of TNA Xplosion, which airs internationally, a backstage segment ran teasing dissension between Sarita and Taylor Wilde.

During the segment, Sarita is seen sulking on a bench in the women's locker room with her tag team partner inquiring why she's upset. Sarita says she was supposed to be in a tag match 'tonight', but found out she was scratched from the card. Wilde then assures Sarita that her match against Daffney — which takes place later in the show — was merely a 'luck of the draw'. Sarita expresses more displeasure, indicating they've lost traction since losing the Knockout Tag Team Championship and that she wanted 'tonight' to be the starting point to get back to the top. Wilde says she needs her support and what's good for her is good for Sarita. Sarita them mumbles in Spanish before the segment concludes.

Daffney was originally declared the winner of her Xplosion match with Wilde, but Sarita protested the referee's decision, informing him that she used an illegal object. Referee Andrew Thomas searches Daffney and finds a chain, calling for the match to be restarted. The match concludes when Sarita trips Daffney from the outside, allowing Wilde to roll her up for the pin.

Velvet Sky Signs Long-Term Deal With TNA Wrestling, Receives Pay Raise

Rajah.com reports... One third of the Knockout Tag Team Champions, Velvet Sky, indicated Saturday on her MySpace account that she has signed a new, long term contract with TNA Wrestling. Her previous contract was set to expire later this year.

"I ain't going anywhere!," Sky exclaimed.

Her new contract is a three-year deal. She also received a pay raise, bumping her salary from $300 per show to $600 per show.

It was recently reported that there was more grumbling than usual amongst the company's female performers over the pay discrepancy between them and their male wrestler counterparts. At a recent set of television tapings, they reportedly talked amongst themselves of getting all the women together to demand a raise from management. However, the television tapings concluded without confrontation. The women said to be most upset were Velvet Sky, Taylor Wilde and Lacey Von Erich. ODB was also part of this camp, but has since quit the organization. Reportedly, Velvet Sky was contemplating quitting the organization if she didn't receive a raise, but it appears she's been pacified.

Oh SmackDown! Your such a tease
Posted by: Stephen Hyong 06/26/2010 JOIN THE FORUMS

SmackDown writers must be lazy this week or are the RAW writers filling in for them this week because SmackDown was all over the place an basically was a waste of time for the SmackDown Divas which is pretty much what we would expect on Raw.

Now onto the Divas Action:

We're in the ring an Rosa Mendes is announced while she is skipping rope looking as happy as she ever could. Out next is Kelly Kelly with her Blondetourage member Tiffany to take on Rosa. Kelly smiles while Rosa skips away and we are greeted by the "Co-Women's Champions LayCool alongside Kaval. They come down to the ring for a little commentary. Match starts and ends with Kelly hitting the K2 on Rosa for the win. Afterwards Kelly tosses Rosa's rope to LayCool and they prepare to get in the ring, but once Tiffany gets in they back off and go to the back.

Pro's/:
We got to see Rosa with more screentime

Con's/:
WWE is really forgetting about their women's division and they have dropped the ball with the action on SmackDown. The match in itself lasted about 7 seconds while the entrances took up 2 minutes of screentime. Rosa had no opportunity to show offense, Tiffany's prescence wasn't needed and what exactly was the purpose of LayCool being at ringside. Bad week for the Dicas especially with SmackDown
